Renzo Ortega (1974) began his artistic career in the art and underground music scene of his native Lima-Perú. Later he emigrated to the United States, he lived and worked in New York for over sixteen years. In the fall of 2016, Renzo relocated to Carrboro, North Carolina. He received a BFA in painting from La Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes del Perú (1999), studied at the Art Students League of New York (2000-04), he is a visionary founder member and was the artistic director of Local Project, a not-for-profit art organization in Queens, New York and has his MFA in painting from Hunter College (2014).
